The Supreme Court is poised to overturn Roe V. Wade.
We have been sounding the alarm for years. We knew the day might come. Now it’s here, and it’s time to take action.
If the court’s opinion doesn’t change – and I don’t believe it will – it represents a blatant disregard to 50 years of precedent and a slap in the face to more than 50% of our population.
The consequences of overturning Roe V. Wade will be dire and felt immediately across the country.
In over a dozen states, anti-choice laws already on the books will “trigger” the moment Roe is overturned. Abortion will immediately be banned, and the decision to terminate a pregnancy will no longer be between a woman and her doctor.
The only option to protect abortion rights is for Congress to act. Until we pass national legislation to codify Roe v. Wade, women and girls seeking reproductive care will face a patchwork of laws and restrictions across the country.
It’s wrong, and it’s our responsibility to stand up and fight back. That means supporting pro-choice women candidates running for office.
Women are the leading efforts to stop the attacks on reproductive rights. Not only do they need your votes, they need your financial support.
Now, more than ever, it’s time to step up because the Supreme Court has made it clear, there’s no turning back – except the clock on women, if we don’t take a stand.
